Civil Services has continued to extend their waving of Civil Service exam fees til June 2026. Local governments do not have to opt in to this program.
Good news for Work Zone Cameras througout NYS. If you go above 11 MPH in a work zone, you will get a ticket that is mailed to the address on the registration of the vehicle. They are doubling the number of cameras. They will have a total of 40 cameras, 20 on the thruway, 5 will be given to the bridge authority. This also is being extended 5 years to make sure that these work zones are as safe as possible for our CSEA members.
For local municipalities, there is $500 million for clean water.
The City of Buffalo will see a 3% tax added on occupancy - this means hotels, inns, motels, etc. will be adding this tax to anyone who stays in Buffalo.
17% increase in Medicaid Funding which is good.
There is $1.1 million in NYS tax surcharges.
If you make less than $323,200 your income tax is reduced.
Child Tax credit is going up if you have children from 0-3 years old, you will receive $1000 per child. and then in 2026 in you have children from 4-16 years old the credit is $500 per child. These credits have not been updated in a long time.
With the money that the Governor said people were going to get, if you have $150,000 or less and have 2 signers, then you would receive $400 in the fall. If you are a single signer, you would get $200 in the fall.
The Unemployment benefit has not increased in quite a while. Right now, it is at $500 week. If NYS pays off the Insurance Trust Fund, then the benefit would go up to $900 a week.
